us and them.

hi.
today i went to the Rumah Kanak-kanak Istimewa Taman Megah with Brenda and Edmond.
and the sight of the little kids there was depressing. they were not all disabled. some were just dumped there cos their families couldnt afford to support them. they are all really nice tho.
oh! and there was an old woman who just stays there cos she has no home to go to.
DAMN WTH RIGHT? like wth is wrong with this world? dumb family. but i cant fully blame it on them also lah.
so, most of them suffered from cerebral palsy, mild intellectual disabilities, down syndrome or autism. some were slow learners too. yes, they can still react like normal people just that they learn things a little slower. AND there were hyperactives too. the hyperactives are really cute.

PLEASE READ BELOW OKAY. im serious.

ive found explanations of these disabilities from the internet! i just want u all to know MORE about them and help them lah.

Autism is a disorder of neural development that is characterized by impaired social interaction communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. The widespread of autism is about 1–2 per 1,000 people. Autistic kids look perfectly normal actually, u know. they just have trouble reacting to their surroundings.
A kid who has autism has trouble linking words to their meanings. Imagine trying to understand what your mom is saying if you didn't know what her words really mean. It is doubly frustrating then if a kid can't come up with the right words to express his or her own thoughts. how sad right? and

Autism causes kids to act in unusual ways. They might flap their hands, say certain words over and over, have temper tantrums, or play only with one particular toy. Most kids with autism don't like changes in routines. They like to stay on a schedule that is always the same. They also may insist that their toys or other objects be arranged a certain way and get upset if these items are moved or disturbed.

Cerebral Palsy
The term cerebral palsy refers to any one of a number of neurological disorders that appear in infancy or early childhood and PERMANENTLY :O affect body movement and muscle coordination but don’t worsen over time :D Even though cerebral palsy affects muscle movement, it isn’t caused by problems in the muscles or nerves. It is caused by abnormalities in parts of the brain that control muscle movements.

OH. today when i went to that place. there was one part of the home where theres a really cushion-y mat and i can see like little kids who are disabled lying down unable to move much. their hands and legs are a little weird cos they seem to be really skinny and tend to bend either inwards or outwards. they all looked not older than 6 years old. but i was really shocked to find out when THEY WERE ALL AROUND OUR AGE :O. they all suffered from cerebral palsy. i saw one of the kid who was producing foam with its saliva. u know the kind where u see someone who got rabies. yeah. it was saddddd ;(

Down Syndrome
Down syndrome (DS), also called Trisomy 21, is a condition in which extra genetic material causes delays in the way a child develops, both mentally and physically. It affects about 1 in every 800 babies. u know, down syndrome people they actually do understand what youre saying. i met this little boy today. his name was Simon. he understands what im saying okay. he wanted me to play with him using these alphabet flashcards. so i played lah. whenever i flashed to him an alphabet, he would trying writing it out using his fingers. when he did it wrongly, i corrected him. i'll ask him to do it again and, he wrote it correctly! :).

oh. there was a disabled guy who had mild intellectual disabilities. he was on a wheelchair. so i felt like pushing him around the compound lah. when i touched the handle, HE WHACKED MY HAND! i got shocked, apologized and backed off lah. but after that, he waved his hand asking me to come back again. i walked closer to him again lah cos i thought he needed help or smth. INSTEAD, HE WHACKED ME AGAIN, TWICE! hes strong AND fast :|. imserious.

but 15 mins later, he was somehow really friendly to me and shock hands with me when he saw me :D. hahaahah. i know. so cute but scary also lah. i thought he was gonna trick me again but he didnt lah.

okay lah. thats all from me .
byeeeeeeee.

feon-na.
